Today is Day 15 in the series 31 days to Loving Sensory Processing Disorder. You can read the entire series here.
As a kid I loved looking through binoculars. They would let me zoom in on what I wanted to see and I could see all the details so clearly. As an adult I still look at life that way. I get stuck in the details. I get so focused on single aspects of life that I forget to look at the big picture.
The sensory parenting rollercoaster keeps me pretty busy. There’s always new twists and turns. There’s always new things to work on. What happens is that I get stuck here. I get stuck in the struggle (whatever it currently is).
What I forget to do is LOOK at the big picture! You see when I look back on the past 5 years I can see how far we’ve come. I can see old behaviors and challenges that are no longer an issue. I can see how the multiple therapy appointments have caused us all to grow.
And sometimes Mama’s we need to look back and we need to celebrate. So today I want you to look back on your entire sensory parenting journey no matter how short or how long it is and answer these questions:
What difficult behavior has disappeared or improved?
What sensory challenge has gotten better?
